It's Par-Tee Time!

The hole decorations are arriving, the raffle prizes are on display, and your friends and family are secretly practicing their putting to get ready for

the 6th annual Tee Time at the Library!

Adults can kick off the weekend at the 21+ night Friday (March 6, 6-9 pm) and enjoy light refreshments, live music by Larry & Dan Killingsworth, an adult beverage and soda/water--all included for $25 per person. Additional adult beverages will be available for purchase.

Bring your family Saturday, (March 7, 10 am-3 pm), for the all-ages event when tickets are just $5 each and kids 4 and under play free. Roasties Coffee and the Cactus Blue food truck will be on site for food and beverage purchases.

Enter the raffles for a chance to win some great prizes including LV Phantoms tickets and themed gift baskets (see below and at the library). Plus, there will be a 50/50 cash drawing each day and a kids' guessing contest.

March 19: Hawk Mountain Birds of Prey come to EPL!

Discover the fascinating world of birds of prey when Hawk Mountain comes to the library Thursday, March 19, at 6:30 p.m.

Meet three different live raptors and learn all about each species, their unique adaptations, and what sets them apart from each other.

March 9: Rooted in Wellness

Gardening isn’t just good for your yard—it’s good for your mental health too.

Join Wendy Bartkus and Kris Thompson of the Emmaus Community Garden Commission to learn about the research-backed ways gardening can support your well-being by reducing stress, anxiety, and depression through mechanisms such as cortisol reduction, sensory engagement, physical activity, and social connection.

At the end, you'll have a chance to plant some seeds to take home.

January private-funding update

Private-funding results are in for the first month of 2026. Let’s take a look….

This year’s target is $153,982, a bit lower than last year's, thanks to a slight increase in funding for libraries in the PA state budget. EPL's private-funding goal represents the projected gap between our budget and the funding provided by state and local municipalities, which covers roughly 66%.

In January, private funding totaled $25,840, with the largest component being annual fund contributions of more than $11K. In addition, general donations totaled $10.5K, and Tee Time sponsorships added another $2,725.

The rest of last month's total came from sales in the Friends’ Book Nook ($660) along with 'library services' revenue of $528 for printing and copying, lost and damaged items, etc.

Please join us this weekend for Tee Time at the Library, our biggest fundraiser of the year and a great way to support the library while having fun with friends and family!

You can also support the library with a one-time or recurring tax-deductible donation, volunteering, or shopping at the Friends' Book Nook in the library.

Spring is almost here!
Join Miss Sue for another round of seasonal stories,
songs, coloring and crafty fun.

April book clubs

On April 7 at 2 p.m., the daytime book group will meet to discuss Intermezzo by Sally Rooney, which follows two brothers dealing with their father’s death as they struggle with complicated romantic relationships and the pressures of adulthood.

On April 14 at 6:45 p.m., the evening book group will be talking about Mr. Mac and Me by Esther Freud, in which a lonely boy in early 20th-century England forms an unexpected friendship with architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh, changing both of their lives.

And, there's still time to join the evening book group on March 10 to discuss Blood Water Paint by Joy McCullough--the story of Baroque painter Artemisia Gentileschi, following her fight for justice after assault and her determination to build a career as an artist in 17th-century Italy.

Some copies of book club selections are available to borrow from the desk.
